1970 Ford Mustang BOSS 429

This is one of many awesome cars Ford built during the musclecar period. It was the answer to the Chrysler Hemi in Nascar competition. Ford raced with the Torino in Nascar but for some reason they sold the BOSS 429 engine in the Mustang. For this engine to be legal in Nascar it had to be produced in at least 500 cars, not necessarily the same car as it would be raced in. So Ford decided to hop up the Mustang with this killer engine. Unfortunatelly they detuned it to a moderate rate of 375Hp, properly tuned it could easily turn out almost twice that.

This car is unique in many ways. First of all it was bought new by a Swedish guy who drove it for a few years then stored it. Secondly it has never been appart in any way, only serviced a few times, the smogpump is still on the engine! It is believed that this is one of very few in this state in the world today.

The Torino Cobra was Fords answer to the Dodge Daytona and Plymouth Superbird in an effort to win in Nascar. For the modelyear 1970 it was longer, wider and heavier but with a stronger engine so overall it was quicker than the previous years. The Torino Cobra was only available as a Sportsroof and only with the 429 engine. If you opted for the dragpack you got the 429 with fourbolt mains and beefier transmission and rearend.

This car is fully restored in excellent condition.

To make the Shelby Mustang stand out in the competition from the Mach 1 and BOSS it was radically changed in the front with a four inch longer extended hood and fenders. The grille was also totally different from the Mustangs.

The GT 500 got the 428 Cobra Jet engine rated at 335 Hp but in reality it was over 400 Hp.

This car has been restored 10 years ago with a hot 428 engine but still looking original.

In 1969 Ford presented a new Mustang, in the stable there was the performance model Mach 1. It had some visual apperances but under the hood there was all performance. Top of the line was the 428 Super Cobra Jet with a strong bottom end and a high flowing top end.

This car came to Sweden in 1970, after many years and different treatment it is now restored and in really good condition.

When Shelby introduced the GT 350 for the 1969 model year it was the most radically changed. The front was stretched 4 inches with new fenders and hood made of fibreglass. The hood got five scoops for ventialtion and forcing air in to the aircleaner.

The GT350 convertible was the rarest of all the Shelby Mustangs with only 194 produced.

The engine in the GT 350 was the new 351 Windsor rated at 290 hp.
